Process engineering applies the principles of transforming raw materials into useful products or converting energy from one form to another. These processes, essential to many industries, have huge importance for the decarbonisation agenda. This short course will introduce you to the fundamental principles of process systems engineering and methods and the latest developments toward decarbonising energy production and industrial processes.
Encouraged by a huge success in the last year, Â鶹´«Ã½AV will re-run the short course in early June this year.

Course structure
The total length of course is four days and consists of several theoretical, practical workshops and case study seminars. Three tours to Â鶹´«Ã½AV facilities will be arranged to help provide a better understanding of the core contents of the short course.
What you will learn
On successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Identify and analyse the concepts and principals of process systems engineering and their potential applications to different engineering problems,
- Assess and analyse appropriate approaches to the collection and interpretation of data in the application of process systems engineering methods,
- Evaluate and select appropriate techniques and tools for the design and operation of process systems,
- Understand the requirements of net-zero emission on process plant’s design and operation.
Core content
- Introduction and fundamentals of process plant and systems engineering,
- Process instrumentation and control engineering for renewable energy applications,
- Numerical tools for industrial process design and operation,
- Identification of the role of inspection and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) in risk reduction and reliability improvement,
- Net-zero process engineering,
- Introduction to process safety and risk assessment in design,
- Interactive seminars on the latest developments in process engineering concerning the net zero carbon emission.
