Background

Chris Knight holds a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from Robert Gordon University Aberdeen. He has worked as a professional software developer across various sectors, including Space and Defence, Medical, Legal and High-Frequency Trading.

Recently he has been building solutions to make precision agriculture inclusive by removing technical, practical and financial barriers. He has achieved this by blending his background in the space sector with his knowledge of AI and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).

Chris's work has been recognised by being part of the USA's State Departments premier professional exchange program IVLP (International Visitor Leadership Program). This initiative is a wonderful opportunity to access policymakers through trips to the White House and various state-level invitations.

Current activities

Chris' PhD research is investigating how weather patterns can be used to explain geographic and temporal variability in crop yields. The project aims to identify whether weather patterns can be used to explain spatial and temporal crop yield variability. It is expected that these weather patterns can also be used to predict multi-seasonal crop yield.
