Background

Dr Humphreys graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a MSci in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry (2006 - 2011). Following on from this she obtained her PhD entitled 'Mixing and Characterisation of Multi-Component Materials for Pyrotechnic Applications' (2011 - 2015) from the University of Southampton. Lisa joined Â鶹´«Ã½AV in 2015 where she primarily focused on developing and characterising novel energetic formulations. As part of this research, she has established skills in the use of advanced novel mixing techniques and has supported several pressing campaigns to create an assortment of both inert and explosive pellets. Lisa has also conducted research on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for both detection purposes and for the generation of novel energetic materials. More recently Lisa has shifted her focus from high explosives back to pyrotechnics.

Lisa also supports the wider energetics community by being part of the SSSG Education and Training Working Group and the Emerging Professionals Focus Group (EPFG). She is also a co-hub lead for the Centre of Excellence in Energetic Materials (CoEEM) Formulation, Manufacturing and Processing (FM&P) Hub.

Current activities

Dr Humphreys is responsible for the development and delivery of research and education in energetic materials. She supports several formulation research contracts and investigates advanced novel mixing techniques to support numerous research contracts. Lisa is also developing new metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for both detection purposes and for the generation of novel energetic materials.

Dr Humphreys supervises MSc projects and supports PhD students with their research. She is also a visiting academic within the Chemistry department at the University of Southampton.
