Background

Dr Xin Chen is currently a research fellow in the modelling of additive manufacturing at the Welding and Additive Manufacturing Centre at Â鶹´«Ã½AV, a role he has held since January 2019. Dr Chen became deeply aware of the potency of numerical simulation as a formidable tool for understanding the physical and engineering realms when he started his graduate study on modelling keyhole laser welding in 2012 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Driven by a profound passion for the subject, Dr Chen dedicated himself to numerical modelling and simulation, extending his expertise to various welding and AM processes throughout his subsequent PhD studies. In 2018, he successfully earned his PhD. At Â鶹´«Ã½AV, Dr Chen's primary research revolves around the development of physical-based Computational Fluid Dynamics models in gaining insights into AM processes, fostering fundamental understanding, and facilitating innovative design and development, which not only benefits the academic community but also holds significant implications for various industries.
