Background
Imane EL FARTASSI is a Ph.D. candidate at Â鶹´«Ã½AV, carrying a research project in collaboration with Rothamsted Research and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Morocco).
In 2019, she became a certified crop advisor by the African Plant Nutrition Institute and joined one of the world's largest fertilizer producers 'OCP group' Headquartered in Morocco as an agronomist developer. She has been working closely with farmers assisting them to tackle complex problems in crop production as well as keeping them abreast of new products and technologies related to agriculture.
Prior to this, she worked as an agronomist consultant on behalf of the Global diversity foundation contributing to the participatory implementation of sustainable and regenerative agriculture techniques in the Moroccan High Atlas communities.
Back in 2018, she obtained her Engineering degree in agronomy with a specialization in plant breeding and crop production from the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary in Morocco. Her engineering thesis engaged some innovative statistical approaches, such as the AMMI models and the use of R package, to assess the performance and stability of some novel oat lines (Avena magna) under four contrasted agro-climatic environments in Morocco.
Current activities
Imane EL FARTASSI is currently pursuing a PhD project in Environment and Agrifood, in collaboration with Rothamsted Research (UK) and Mohamed VI Polytechnic University (Morocco). The main aim of this project is to build an agent-based model of farmer decision making and link it to a model of agricultural impacts in a landscape to explore what factors are most important in delivering sustainable agricultural production.
